By using Vine Savant, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please do not use our Service.

2.1 Information You Provide

When you use Vine Savant, you may provide us with:

• Profile Information: Display name, avatar (emoji and color selection)
• Game Content: Wine ratings, tasting notes, quiz responses, and game participation data
• Photos: Wine bottle label photos you upload for wine identification
• Game Images: Game pictures/logos you upload when creating a game

2.2 Automatically Collected Information

When you access our Service, we automatically collect:

• Device Information: Device type, operating system, browser type, and unique device identifiers
• Usage Data: Pages viewed, features used, game participation, and interaction timestamps
• Analytics Data: App performance, crash reports, and aggregate usage statistics
• Location Data: General location information based on IP address (not precise GPS location)

2.3 Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies, local storage, and similar tracking technologies to maintain your session, remember your preferences, and analyze how you use our Service. You can control cookies through your browser settings, but disabling them may affect functionality.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Enable real-time multiplayer wine tasting games
• Identify wines using AI (Google Gemini API) from photos and barcodes you provide
• Calculate scores, rankings, and award accolades in games
• Display leaderboards, game timelines, and player interactions
• Aggregate and display community wine ratings and tasting notes
• Store game logos and images in Firebase Storage
• Improve and personalize your experience
• Communicate with you about your account and provide customer support
• Detect, prevent, and address technical issues and fraudulent activity
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service
• Analyze usage patterns to improve our Service
• Display personalized advertisements and measure ad performance
• Provide relevant wine purchase recommendations through affiliate partnerships

4. Third-Party Services We Use

4.1 Firebase (Google)

We use Google Firebase for backend services, including:

• Firebase Authentication: Anonymous sign-in, Sign in with Apple, and Google Sign-In
• Cloud Firestore: Real-time database for game state, player data, and wine information
• Firebase Storage: Secure storage for user-uploaded wine bottle photos and game logos
• Firebase Analytics: Usage analytics and app performance monitoring

Firebase's data processing is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

4.2 Google Gemini API

When you upload a photo of a wine bottle, we send that image to Google's Gemini AI service to automatically identify the wine's name, type, region, and other details. Images are processed in accordance with Google Cloud's Privacy Notice.

4.3 Sign in with Apple

If you choose to sign in with Apple, we receive a unique identifier and, optionally, your name and email address (which may be Apple's private relay email). Apple's handling of this data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

4.4 Vercel (Hosting)

Our web application is hosted on Vercel. Server logs and access data are governed by Vercel's Privacy Policy.

4.5 Advertising and Analytics Partners

We may work with third-party advertising networks and analytics providers to display ads and measure their effectiveness. These partners may use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to collect information about your activity across different websites and apps.

Advertising partners may include (but are not limited to):

Vine Savant participates in affiliate marketing programs with wine retailers and e-commerce platforms. When you click on a "Where to Buy" link or wine purchase recommendation, we may earn a commission if you make a purchase. This does not affect the price you pay.

Data shared with affiliate partners may include:

• Anonymous click tracking (via affiliate link parameters)
• Wine product viewed or clicked
• General device and browser information
• Timestamp of click

We do not share personally identifiable information (name, email, etc.) with affiliate partners. Tracking is done through anonymous identifiers and cookies. Once you visit an affiliate's website, their own privacy policy governs data collection.

5. How We Share Your Information

5.1 Within Games

When you join a game, your display name, avatar, scores, and quiz responses are visible to other players in that game. Your tasting notes and ratings contribute to aggregated community data displayed on wine detail pages.

5.2 Service Providers

We share information with third-party service providers (listed in Section 4) to operate and improve our Service. These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data.

5.3 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or government request, or to protect our rights, property, or safety, or that of our users or the public.

5.4 Business Transfers

If Total Jitter LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may be transferred. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

5.5 Advertising and Data Monetization

We reserve the right to sell, share, or license aggregated and de-identified data collected from games and user activity for advertising, analytics, and commercial purposes. This may include:

• Aggregated wine preferences, tasting patterns, and game participation data
• De-identified usage statistics and behavioral analytics
• Wine rating trends and tasting note aggregations
• Anonymous demographic and device information

We may share this data with advertising partners, data brokers, wine retailers, market research firms, and other third parties for targeted advertising, market analysis, and commercial purposes. 5.6 With Your Consent

We may share your information with third parties when you have given us explicit consent to do so.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to provide the Service and fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy. Specifically:

• Account Data: Retained until you delete your account
• Game Data: Retained indefinitely to preserve game history and community statistics
• Anonymous Data: Anonymous user data is retained indefinitely for analytics
• Photos and Images: Wine bottle photos and game logos are retained to improve wine identification accuracy and maintain game history. Game logos uploaded by you will be deleted upon account deletion.

After account deletion, your personal identifiers are removed, but anonymized game contributions (ratings, notes) may remain in aggregate statistics.

6.1 Account Deletion and Data Removal

When you request account deletion, we will delete:

• Your account information: Username, email, and authentication data
• Your uploaded images: All game logos and wine bottle photos you uploaded
• Personal identifiers: Your user ID and associated profile data

Data that remains after deletion:

• Anonymized game contributions (ratings, tasting notes) in aggregate statistics
• Game history data (scores, leaderboards) with your display name but no personal identifiers
• Wines you added to games (but not photos you uploaded)

7. Your Privacy Rights

7.1 Access and Portability

You have the right to access your personal data and request a copy in a portable format. Contact us at privacy@totaljitter.com.

7.2 Correction

You can update your profile information (username, avatar) directly in the app at any time.

7.3 Deletion

You have the right to request deletion of your account and personal data. Visit our Account Deletion page to submit a request. We will process deletions within 30 days.

7.4 Opt-Out of Tracking and Advertising

You have the right to opt out of certain data collection and personalized advertising:

Even if you opt out of personalized ads, you may still see non-personalized (contextual) advertisements within the app.

7.5 Region-Specific Rights

Depending on your location, you may have additional rights:

8. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

Vine Savant is not intended for users under the legal drinking age. You must be at least 21 years old (in the United States) or 18 years old (in other countries) to use our Service. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under these age requirements.

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including:

• Encryption of data at rest in Firebase services

However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

10. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence, including the United States, where our servers and service providers are located. These countries may have different data protection laws than your country.

By using Vine Savant, you consent to the transfer of your information to these countries. We ensure that such transfers comply with applicable data protection laws, including the use of standard contractual clauses where required.
